Tool Maker – Machinist

The Main Duties

  • Build new tools, modify or refurbish existing tools
  • Operate effectively and safely the full range of non CNC tool room machinery when required
  • Work on Centre Lathe turning, Universal Milling machines, Surface and Cylindrical Grinding
  • Demonstrate the ability to pass on instructions and training to the other personnel within the department
  • Understand engineering drawings for production and inspecting tooling
  • Participation in projects and improvement groups within the company when required
  • Work as part of a team but also on your own, organise own workload effectively
  • Succeed an acceptable standard of workmanship and quality within a reasonable timescale
  • Work in accordance with current Health and Safety guidelines

Authority

  • To stop any process in department if quality or health and safety are in question.

Qualifications

  • GCSE (or equivalent)
  • Apprentice trained

Experience

  • Ideally previous experience of working within a Tool Room with non CNC machinery
  • Must have experience of using Centre Lathe turning, Universal Milling machines and Surface Grinding

Knowledge and skills

  • Computing skills (Microsoft Excel and Word)
  • Very good interpersonal communication skills
  • Ability to work within a team environment
